The reporter was informed by CR on June 26 that the facade decoration of the first-stage project of the new Shantou Station, the largest high speed railway hub in the east of Guangdong Province with the most complete traffic connection function, was almost completed. Its integral shape named “surging tide” made its public debut. The construction of the station moved on to the final stage of internal decoration and renovation.

The design idea of the new Shantou Station is “Shantou, riding on the flying tide.” The designer imitated rolling waves with smooth curves that remind people of the ocean. The elevated waiting floor of the station building is made up of 1,465 glass modules, each weighing over 700 kg.

Construction of the new Shantou Station is divided into two stages: The first one is to construct a new east building of the station, and the second one is to rebuild and expand the original west building. The station has a total building dimension of 100,000 square meters. It will accelerate the development of eastern Guangdong and the city clusters of Shantou, Chaozhou, and Jieyang after its completion.
